Claudiu Girdoc , este românul de 31 de ani care a murit duminică, în urma rănilor provocate de un șofer beat care a lovit intenționat un grup de cinci persoane. Identitatea victimei a fost dezvăluită de reporterii de la publicația Evening Standard , care au mai precizat că tânărul se afla în Londra de noua ani, potrivit celor spuse de vărul său, Raul Popescu, de 45 de ani.
Acesta a declarat pentru publicația britanică că vărul său, Claudiu Girdoc, tocmai se mutase cu iubita lui, în urmă cu o lună și se gândeau să se întoarcă acasă pentru a întemeia o familie. „Încerca să își ajute familia”, a mai declarat Raul Popescu
Prietenii tânărului au deschis pe pagina crowdfunder.co.uk o campanie de donații pentru a îi ajuta familia să aducă acasă trupul neînsuflețit, campanie care este descrisă așa: “This is a pledge to raise money for the late Girdoc Claudiu (32 years old), to help send his body to Romania so he can lay with his family.”. Până în prezent s-au strâns 450 de lire dintr-o limită setată de 2500 de lire de cei care au pornit campania.

“After a suspected drink-driver ploughed into 5 people, Girdoc Claudiu – only 32 years old, sadly passed away on Monday 27.02.17.
This is a pledge to help raise funds towards burial costs, funeral costs and for his body to be sent to Romania where his mother and family reside.
I personally don’t know Girdoc well, however he was a familiar face to all the local users of the car wash in and around Bellingham and Catford. Merely from my observations, Girdoc and all his colleagues were hard workers – rain or snow, sleet or cold they worked hard to earn a living.
Knowing somebody passed away as young as 32 years old is nothing but sad and unfortunate.
We should all unite communities whether Romanian, English, Turkish or whatever ethnicity, race or religion to show that we do have a sense of humanity, compassion and unity for one another in these sad times.

“Girdoc Claudiu 1985-2017, came from a small town in Romania, to the big town of London with ambitious dreams of working to help his family. Last week on Sunday at 8:15pm, Claudiu was at work having a chat with his colleagues when a split second later a car drove into him. Claudiu didn’t know what happened or why it happened at that instance. Claudiu’s mother has left her town in Romania for the first time ever to fly to London, England, sadly to see only flowers and photos lay next to the Catford Bus Garage in memory of her son.
Claudiu’s last wish was to save lives by donating his organs to those more in need.
The doctors and nurses at the NHS have done everything to save Claudiu. From all of his family, we appreciate that so much. Thank you to you all.”
